This week we have a special guest mix by Jake Dawson from Pirate Copy, recorded in one LIVE whiskey fueled session in Manila, Philippines. Normally known for house and techno, this weeks podcast is a more funky and soulful workout from the English selector.
Pirate Copy are a Manchester-based trio with over ten years of experience of Djing, having played at venues worldwide and in support of some of the biggest acts in electronic music including Fatboy Slim, Marco Carola, MK, Carl Craig, Heidi, Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed, Loco Dice, Luciano, Dixon, Booka Shade and DJ Sneak, amongst many others.
Their productions have received chart success on both digital and vinyl formats, with their eclectic take on house and techno being championed by DJ’s ranging from John Digweed to Jamie Jones and have been a feature on the turntables of DC10 Ibiza. several releases have featured multiple tracks in Beatport’s Top 100 as well as vinyl releases hitting Top 10 spots on decks.de With upcoming releases planned on Elrow Music and their home label Kaluki Music, Pirate Copy’s output has been of consistent quality.
Functioning as a collective of friends from Northern, England, Pirate Copy have held residencies at UK venues such as Sankeys, The Warehouse Project, Albert Hall and Gorilla, Space in Ibiza, Club Madake and Eden in Hanoi. Their tour schedule has included appearances at Fabric London, RED Toronto, Blue Marlin Ibiza, Social Rooms Hong Kong and Prive Barcelona.
Coupled with a string of festival appearances (including Glastonbury, Creamfields, Parklife BPM and Sonar) and a world tour in 2015/16, Pirate Copy’s credentials speak for themselves.
